The Boka Kotorska bay is a unique natural entity which will leave you breathless. A magnificent contrast of blue sea and steep mountains, during the centuries of its genesis made one of the most beautiful fjords in the world. That is why we made an effort to enable our visitors close contact with the bay during our excursions.
But Boka is not only a fantastic nature and an attractive tourist destination. Kotor has been under protection of UNESCO in 1979 thanks to its cultural, historical and architectural values. The excursion contains the visit of the Old Town, Maritime museum and many other sacral and civic buildings. By its existence we can see local people frankness to different cultures, religions and nationalities.
Further on there is the best preserved Baroque entity, Perast with its palaces, fortifications and museums. In front of the town there are 2 islands: St. George and Our lady of the Rock. We'll visit this island by boat. On St. George there is a church of the same name dating from the 12th century and the Perast graveyard. This is the reason why the island is also called the Island of the Dead.
Our Lady of the Rock’s Church was built in 1630 on an artificial island made by the inhabitants of Perast. According to the legend, the fishermen of Perast found a wonder-working icon of the Virgin with Child on the rock – the one, which now occupies the main alter of the church. They vowed to build a church on that same place dedicated to the icon of the Virgin, protector of sailors and fishermen.
