Budva, Montenegro - A Town Made For Living & Enjoyment
In the heart of the Adriatic coast of Montenegro, there is a town called Budva, made for living and enjoyment.
Budva is situated in the central part of Montenegrin coastline. Budva is one of the sunniest places not only at the Adriatic sea but also in Europe.
Legend says that town was founded by Phoenicians in the V century BC – ancient sailors who traded in the Mediterranean Sea. During the researches of the archaeological sites the remains of Roman and Greek necropolis have been found, as well as jewelry, and other objects that belong to the Ilyric, Greek, Roman civilization.
Now days Budva is modern city which consist New and Old town. Old Town is surrounded with high city walls, founded in XV centre during the period of the war with Ottoman Empire. Walls are reinforced with towers and fortress Kastel. Old town has couple entrances, which takes you to the labyrinth of the narrow and curved streets on which ends are medieval squares and monuments built in the renaissance style. Cultural monuments (churches, monasteries, fortresses...) are witnesses of the past.
Throughout centuries, Budva has been the synonym for culture, free thinking and creativity. Cultural life in Budva is rich with many events, concerts, theater and musical festivals which are organized during the main season and specially before and after the season.
Budva Riviera is well known by it is sandy beaches (Becici beach, Slovenska plaza, Mogren, Jaz, Trsteno). Island St Nikola or Hawaii is very popular destination which is situated just couple minutes boat ride from Budva’s port.
Peninsula St Stefan is one of the most exclusive and luxury places at the Adriatic sea which was visited by many celebrities, and it is one of the highlights in this part of the coastline.
Area of Budva is well equipped with all kind of sport facilities: diving clubs, paragliding, parasailing, tennis, basketball, football, volleyball course, beach sports, water sports and etc.
Night life is something that attracts young people from all parts of the world. During the main season tourist can choose between many night clubs, disco clubs and open bars.
